Associação Portuguesa d'Enologia

The Associação Portuguesa d'Enologia (APE) was constituted on 15th February 1979 and defines itself as a non-profit-making cultural association without political or religious aims, dedicated to the safeguarding of Oenologists' professional interests.

In 1982 it became a member of the Union Internationale des Oenologues (UIEO).

L'APE publishes an annual magazine, Enologia, for the divulgation of technical and scientific information; it provides reports on the activities organized and articles of scientific opinion and on wine-tasting.

With regard to the training of its members, the Associação Portuguesad'Enologia organizes technical events and visits to various wine producers. In collaboration with several companies, in 2005 the APE created a sort of competition for young students, with a monetary prize for the best end-of-course projects carried out in the Viticulture and Oenology sectors.
